Yoga Nidra is also called Yogic Sleep or Conscious Deep Sleep. It is a highly transformative practice of deep relaxation and meditative inquiry, that can help you release tension in the body, mind and spirit, and make positive changes in your life.
It is a state of consciousness that goes far beyond deep relaxation. It is a state where the thinking mind withdraws, yet awareness remains. A state, where our innate wisdom, intelligence and intuition naturally reside.
In Yoga Nidra we are emptying the mind and moving down through progressive brain-wave states with naturally less and less thoughts. This process takes us to that place where the mind is empty, but it does so through an effortless process of quieting the brain just as when we go to sleep. There is no wrong way to do it, our body knows exactly how to do this, we don’t need to try or force anything.
